Runes of Magic suspends users for exploit

German publisher Frogster has suspended a number of Runes of Magic players for seven days pending investigations into “exploiting”.

Frogster, however, will not say what the investigations are for specifically, nor how many people have been locked out of the free-to-play, micro-transaction-powered MMO. Those caught in the net have been similarly left in the dark.

“We had to suspend accounts for an investigation because we had a case of exploiting,” a spokesperson for Frogster told Eurogamer. “Since the investigation is an ongoing process I cannot give out too many information at the moment. We will release a more detailed statement during the next days.

Runes of Magic introduces Druids and Wardens

In the next patch –entitled The Elven Prophecy — for Runes of Magic which is schedules to launch in September, Frogster has announced two new Elven classes: the Druid and the Warden. Both classes are deeply related to nature and their power source comes from the nature. They are also very much tied into the lore and now role players can have more options in role playing.

• Druids: Druids have similar abilities to a mage and are able to channel the gifts of nature in battle or to heal their allies.In order to apply their abilities, druids use the dormant powers within them and use these to build up ‘Nature’s Power’. They can then use this to increase the action of their abilities, or to add effects to them. The amount of ‘Nature’s Power’ that the druid builds up is dependent upon which ability they use. They also have to consider most exactly the sequence in which they use their abilities in order to achieve the best possible effects.

• Wardens: Wardens meanwhile, are the peacekeepers of Elven society and the land who exist in an almost symbiotic state with the flora of the Elves’ homeland. he intimate relationship with nature allows the wardens to summon nature spirits, which then accompany them on their way through the forests and protect them in combat. In the course of their lives wardens receive different companions, their appearance and abilities are dependent on the warden’s experience and competence.
