Final Fantasy XIV Website Goes Live
August 8, 2009

Today Square Enix announced the website for their PC/PS3 MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV. It’s not just a lame teaser site with a shiny logo, either.
The website contains information on the game world’s storyline, locations, and races. There’s also a brief overview of the game’s mechanics, such as the different “disciplines” (sets of skills) a player can specialize in. Should all this text start to bore you, there’s a trailer and screenshots as well.
Final Fantasy XIV will be released globally in 2010 in Japanese, English, French, and German.

Final Fantasy XIV Jobs, Races Revealed
August 5, 2009

Upcoming Final Fantasy XIV is Square Enix‘s latest stab at the MMO genre since previous title Final Fantasy XI.
FFXIV will have races similar to the races in FFXI, but with different names. This game is meant for a step up from it’s older MMO, Final Fantasy XI. The races in Final Fantasy XIV are visually alike to the ones found in Final Fantasy XI so that players from that game feel more at home in the new one. Aside from this, names and lore for each race are completely different.
According to these FFXIV scans, the brand spankin’ new race names are Hyuran (human inFFXI), Lalafell (Taru in FFXI), Elzen (Elvaan in FFXI), Miqo’te (Mithra in FFIX) and Roegadyn (Galka in FFXI). Job-wise, FFXIV has four jobs revealed so far with two sub-classes for each: Fighter (swordsman, archer), Sorcerer (enchanter, warlock), Crafter (blacksmith, cook) and Gatherer (gardener, fishermen).
Final Fantasy XIV is slated for release in 2010 on the PS3 and the PC.
